Richard E. Feldmeyer, 89, Huntingburg

Richard E. Feldmeyer, 89, of Huntingburg, died Friday (October 6) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg March 16, 1928, to Oscar and Amelia (Sunderman) Feldmeyer. He married Joanne Giltner August 8, 1996. She died August 24, 2002. He was a 1946 graduate of Huntingburg High School, served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was a 1952 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for P.R. Mallory and Indiana Gear Works (Buehler Corporation) for 43 years in research and development of aerospace and nuclear reactor components and was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg.

He is survived by one brother, Don Feldmeyer and wife Anna Mary, Huntingburg; three step-children, Paula Jarvis, McCordsville, Joe Nahler, Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and Jim Nahler, Marion; and a number of nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Geneva and Chester Fark, and one great-nephew.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Memorial contributions can be made to Salem United Church of Christ. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Pastor Mark West will officiate at the service. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post No. 2366 Memorial Detail.
