Roy Garland Carver, Jr., 74, Jasper

Roy Garland Carver, Jr., 74, of Jasper, died Wednesday (September 27) at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was born in Chrisney October 24, 1942, to Roy Garland, Sr. and Ona (Cahoon) Carver. He married Gail Lynn Pursley December 24, 1964, at Bullock Town Pentecostal Church in Boonville.

Roy served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from Jasper Rubber Products after 47 years of employment, enjoyed fishing, was a member of the American Legion and the Lighthouse Worship Center in Jasper where he served as a cameraman, janitor, and other duties.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Carver; two sons, Bruce and Farran Carver, both of Jasper; two brothers, Charles Carver, Gentryville, and Ronald Carver and wife Marsha, Boonville; and one granddaughter, Megan Russell.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Nora Gladys Greenwood, and one brother, Raymond Carver.

Friends may call for from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post No. 2366 Memorial Detail and the Evansville Honor Guard. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Robert Eckert.
