Gail A. Vaal, 66, Jasper

Gail A. Vaal, 66, of Jasper, died Saturday (September 23) at her home. She was born in Huntingburg February 11, 1951, to William and Rita (Beck) Kiefer. She married Bernard “Benny” Vaal November 11, 1972, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Gail was a homemaker and worked as a cashier for Buehler’s Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and the American Legion Post No. 147 Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing this outside, playing cards, being with friends and people, and her dog Gus.

She is survived by her husband, Benny Vaal; two sons, Adam Vaal and wife Stacie, Jasper, and Bret Vaal and wife Tina, Bretzville; two grandchildren, Hailey and Luana Vaal; and three brothers, Al Kiefer and companion Lisa Kern, Mike Kiefer and wife Michelle, and Tom Kiefer and wife Glenda, all of Jasper.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one grandson, Garrett Vaal.

There will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dubois Community Foundation – Bill and Rita Kiefer Endowment, St. Joseph Catholic Church, or the Dubois County Humane Society. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church with burial following in the Jasper Enlow City Cemetery.
