Dubois Man Arrested For Battering His 2-month-old Child

Dubois County (NNDC) – A 24-year-old Dubois man has been arrested on four felony charges of child neglect and battery. Following an investigation into numerous severe injuries to a 2-month-old child, Indiana State Police detective Brock Werne and Mater Trooper Brian LaRoche arrested Trent Grider at his place of employment in St. Anthony.

On August 29 police received a report from Memorial Hospital in Jasper regarding a 2-month-old child brought to the hospital with multiple injuries, including a broken collarbone and arm and a bruised right ear. Police learned Grider had pulled his child out of a car seat by the his right arm, causing the right arm and collarbone to break.

The warrant for Grider’s arrest was issued September 21 by the Dubois County Circuit Court. Charges include neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, Level 3 felony; neglect of a dependent resulting in bodily injury, Level 5 felony; battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a person less than 14 years old, Level 3 felony; and battery resulting in bodily injury to a person less than 14 years old, Level 5 felony.
