4-H Names Junior Leader of the Year

DUBOIS COUNTY (From Releases) – Dubois County 4-H has named Priscilla Olson of Jasper its 2017 Junior Leader of the Year. The award is presented to the club member with the most collected points over the course of the year. The points are based on both service to the 4-H program as well as service to the community.

Olson, a graduate of Jasper High School, is currently attending the University of Alabama. Priscilla recently graduated from Jasper High School and is currently attending the University of Alabama. Priscilla is a unique 4-H member. She didn’t join until she was a freshman in high school. This past year was her first and only year in junior leaders. She assisted with school visits during National 4-H week and visited radio stations to promote 4-H. She helped throughout the year with different 4-H events including moving the office to the fairgrounds, sorting record sheets, assisting with state fair project check-in, and setting up 4-H visits with Northwood Assisted Living. She also served as president of her local 4-H club, Lucky Irish.

Outside of 4-H, Priscilla devoted much of her time to work with the Northwood Retirement Community. She organized several events for the Northwood residents including holiday visits, Glory Garden dedication, cookouts, and more. She organized her own event, the “Grand” Ball Dance, a dance for grandparents and their grandchildren, spending 65 hours organizing the event.

The 4-H Junior Leaders is a club and project where members learn how to be great leaders in the program and provide service to the organization and community.
