Jasper Man Killed In Alumni Stadium Accident

Jasper (NNDC) – A 62-year-old Jasper man was killed Monday afternoon after being thrown from a boom lift at Jerry Brewer Alumni Stadium in Jasper. The accident occurred shortly after noon.

The victim, Earl W. Hulsman, and 60-year-old Kurt D. Brescher of Velpen were operating the lift to install lights on a light standard at the field when it suddenly tipped and fell to the ground, throwing both men approximately 40 feet to the ground. Hulsman was unresponsive following the fall, Brescher was conscious and complained of injury.

Both were taken to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center where Hulsman died of injuries suffered in the fall. Brescher was treated for non-life threatening injuries, but was admitted to the hospital.
