Hiway 162 Fatal Accident Victim Identified

DUBOIS COUNTY ( NNDC) – The victim in the Tuesday afternoon fatal automobile accident just south of the Dubois County Highway Department on State Road 162 has been identified. Larry J. Fogleman, 66, of Greenwood, was pronounced dead on arrival at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper at 3:45 Tuesday afternoon. Reports state the fatality was linked to a medical condition.

Fogleman’s wife, Nancy E. Fogleman, 66, suffered minor injuries in the accident. Both were entrapped inside the vehicle which left the highway and traveled down a steep embankment south of Schnellville Road just north of the Maltersville Bridge. Both were extricated by first responders and taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital. Officials report Fogleman passed away at the hospital due to an unspecified medical condition.

The sheriff’s department says Fogleman was driving northbound when he experienced the medical condition that caused him to lose control of his 2005 Buick LaCrosse. The vehicle rolled several times going down the embankment before stopping on its top.

The sheiff’s department withheld identification of the victim until Wednesday morning at the request of Mrs. Fogleman who asked for time to notify her family and friends of the passing of her husband.

The accident was Dubois County’s seventh roadway fatality of 2017.
