Charles O. Hobbs, Sr., 83

Charles O. Hobbs, Sr., 83, of Chrisney, died Tuesday (August 29) at Willowdale Village in Dale. He was born in Crawford County September 20, 1933, to Stillman and Marie (Harlen) Hobbs.

Charles worked for many years at the Jasper Rubber Company. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing.

He is survived by two sons, David E. (Amy) Hobbs and wife Amy, Chandler, and Charles O. “Chuck” Hobbs, Jr., Texas; one brother, James “Ollie” Hobbs, Jr., Holland; one sister, Carol Jean “Jeanie” Naugle, Salem; three grandchildren, Cathryn “Caty” Hobbs, Amanda (Hobbs) Miller, and Corryn “Cory” Hobbs; five great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Delorus Sullivan.

Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation at at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared at www.nassandson.com. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Oakhill Cemetery near Birdseye.
