Louis PancakeLouis E. Pancake, 80, of Velpen, died Saturday (August 12) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg February 20, 1937, to Alva and Margaret (Eilert) Pancake. He married Mary E. Wessel May 17, 1969, in Jeffersonville.

Louis worked as a welder and machinist. He enjoyed tinkering on equipment in his backyard and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Pancake; two sons, Doug Pancake and wife Joline, Velpen, and John Pancake and wife Rose, Paoli; two brothers, Marvin Pancake, Velpen, and Roger Pancake, Jasper; one sister, Mildred Neukam, Dubois; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Ada Belle Pancake, two daughters, Anita Decker and Lisa Ross, two brothers, Lloyd and Kenneth Pancake, and one step-sister, Joyce Ann Allgood.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Online condolences may be shared at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with burial following in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Velpen. The V.F.W. Post No. 2366 memorial detail will conduct military graveside rites. Brother Craig Taylor will officiate.
