Dam Repairs Will Save Lake; Club (VIDEO)

Jasper (NNDC) - Members of the Huntingburg Conservation Club and county officials today pledged to work together in coming up with a solution to repair the club's lake dam which would then allow the county to make needed repairs to the county road that crosses over it...

Monday morning, club members told the Dubois County Commissioners the club
did not get a state grant it was hoping could be used to repair the dam.
County road South 100 West crosses over the top of the dam between the
club's lake and campgrounds. The dam was damaged by heavy rains back in
April closing the road.

Dam repair estimates are in excess of $500,000. The dam would need to be
repaired before the county can make needed repairs to the road which a
popular route between Huntingburg and Ferdinand for motorists.
The repairs to the dam are also needed to literally save the lake...

(Tim Jerger talking about how they will also lose the club and all its features
like camping if the dam is not repaired)

And because of the height of the dam, the Indiana Department of Natural
Resources would have to approve any and all repairs. Club officials say
calls to DNR for guidance on how to best repair the dam have gone pretty
much unanswered.
