Frank M. Waninger, 74, Ferdinand

Frank WaningerFrank M. Waninger, 74, of Ferdinand, died Friday (July 28) at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Spencer County December 6, 1942, to Max and Frances (Kleiser) Waninger. He married Hilda Mae Rickelman June 27, 1964, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.

Frank retired from Foertsch Construction Company. He was a sergeant in the National Guard. He was a member of Ferdinand American Legion Post No. 124, St. Ferdinand Parish, the Antique Tractor Club, and Spencer County Memorial Forest. He enjoyed farming, gardening, deer hunting, and being with family and friends. He liked John Deere tractors and was an organ and tissue donor.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda Mae Waninger; two daughters, Tina Beier, Ferdinand, and Jane Ann (Greg) Beier, St. Henry; five grandchildren, Michael, Keith, Jarrod, and Derrick Beier and Nicole Bromm; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Liam Beier; three sisters, Anna Mae Peters and Pauline Gogel, both of Fulda, and Agnes Witte, Huntingburg; and four brothers, Clarence Waninger and wife Betty, Ferdinand, Dennis Waninger and wife Carol, Fulda, Norman Waninger and wife Betty, Huntingburg, and Robert Waninger and wife Diana, Lamar.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar and Alvin Waninger.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7-9 a.m. Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ferdinand Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Graveside military rites will be provided by Ferdinand Legion Post 124.
