Two Injured When Boat Overturns Leaving Ramp

Patoka (NNDC) – Two people were injured when the pontoon boat they were riding on overturned near a boat ramp of the Newton-Stewart State Recreation Area Saturday.

Celestine Volunteer Fire Department First Responders were called to the scene by Indiana Department of Natural Resources Conservation officers shortly after 12N Saturday.  The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department also assisted as a life-flight helicopter was brought to the scene as well.

The two were riding in the boat (pictured) as it being towed on a trailer from the boat ramp when it overturned.

Injured were a man and a woman.  Their names nor their conditions have been released.

The woman was pinned under the overturned boat and was unconscious for a short time.  She was alert before the helicopter arrived on scene.

The man suffered minor injuries.

Huntingburg Fire Determined As Arson

Huntingburg (NNDC) – Investigators are asking for the public’s help to find the person or people responsible for setting a fire this past Friday at the Brick Oven Pizza restaurant on East 6th Street.

Huntingburg firefighters were called to the scene at 10:16AM Friday to investigate the scene of a possible fire.

A local and state investigative team determined a fire was intentionally set at the restaurant.  No damage estimate was given.

Local authorities, including the Huntingburg Police Department is asking anyone with information about the fire to call the Indiana Arson Hotline at 1-800-382-4628. Callers may receive up to a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the person or people responsible. All calls can remain anonymous.
