Bombers Close Out Fulton To Advance; Reds Drop World Series Opener

BOMBERS ADVANCE TO OVL SEMIFINALS

Huntingburg (Local Sources) – After dropping game one of their first round series of the Ohio Valley League playoffs to Fulton Friday night, the Bombers take the series from the Railroaders with an 8-1 win Sunday night at League Stadium.  The Bombers also won Saturday at Fulton 12-9.

Dubois County will open its semi-final series Monday night (tonight) at League Stadium against Paducah.  Paducah beat Owensboro 11-4 last night to win that first round series, two games to one.

 

REDS LOSE NBC WORLD SERIES OPENER

At Wichita, Kansas, the Jasper Reds dropped their opening game of ‘pool play’ at the 2017 National Baseball Congress World Series; 8-0 to the Westchase (Houston, TX) Express.

The Reds were only able to muster four hits against Express pitching.   Brian Grove had two of Jasper’s hits in the game.

This is the sixth appearance for the Reds in the NBC World Series.

The Reds will next play the Fresno (CA) A’s tomorrow (Tuesday).  Gametime TBD.  The game will be televised LIVE on NNDC-TV (Spectrum Cable 183) as will Jasper’s game Thursday against the Cheney (KS) Diamond Dawgs.
