Police Seeking Public’s Help In Finding Who Killed Darin Atkins (VIDEO)

Birdseye (NNDC) – The investigation into the death of a Birdseye man has revealed how 49-year old Darin Atkins died… now authorities want to know who killed him…

The investigation into who killed the 49-year old Atkins is moving forward.  What we do know is how he died… (DCSD SGT. STUART WILSON SAYS THE CORONER HAS RULED THE DEATH AS A HOMICIDE BECAUSE HE HAD A CLOSED BLUNT FORCE INJURY TO THE BRAIN)…

Dubois County Coroner Bob Veatch says results of an autopsy done Thursday showed Atkins’ closed head injury was done by a large blunt object. He says he should know more from pending results of a toxicology study and further microscoptic analysis.

Atkins was found dead at his mobile home in the 3000 block of Harts Gravel Road just north of Birdseye after the sheriff’s department received a 911 call from a woman shortly before 2pm Wednesday saying there was a deceased man in the home.  DCSD has not released any other details about the incident including the relationship between Atkins and the woman who made the 911 call.

Akins’ death has stirred emotions in Birdseye, a town where everyone pretty much knows everyone…(PASTOR HAROLD BAYER SAYS Families here know everyone’s families… this just can’t happen in a small town).

Wilson says all leads are being investigated… but say as of right now DCSD does not have a suspect so help is still needed from the public.. (WILSON SAYS someone knows something that can help our investigation.  They can call the sheriff’s office and remain anonymous when they do.)

DCSD Detective Sgt. Tom Kleinhelter is heading the investigation… The number to call is 812 482 3522. Again, all callers can remain anonymous.
