Jasper Man Injured When Truck Hits REC Pole

A Jasper man escaped serious injury Sunday morning when his pickup truck ran off the road and struck a utility pole.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says 61-year old Roger Fleck was driving eastbound on West 300 North just east of North 500 West in Madison Township when his pickup truck went off the south side of the road at about 9am.

DCSD says Fleck’s pickup struck a Dubois Rural Electric utility pole snapping it at its base.

DCSD says Fleck refused medical treatment at the scene but he was taken to the hospital later in a private vehicle.
Fleck’s truck was considered a total loss.

Jasper Man Arrested For OWI After Crashing Car West of Bretzville Junction

Meanwhile, a Jasper man was arrested early Sunday when after he crashed his car along Indiana 64 between Bretzville and St. Anthony.
DCSD says the driver of the vehicle, 25-year-old Adam Buchta, was standing against his car off the south side of the roadway when deputies arrived on scene.

DCSD says Buchta was traveling westbound on SR 64 when he apparently fell asleep and drove his vehicle off the south side of the roadway into a ditch, where the car rolled over on its top, and came to rest upside down, facing south.

Deputies say Buctha showed signs of intoxication while on the scene, and after several field sobriety tests.

Buchta was then taken by deputies to the Huntingburg Police Department for a chemical breath test where he DCSD says he tested .083% blood alcohol content.

He now faces a charge of Driving While Intoxicated.

Local Teen Escapes Serious Injury After Rolling SUV Near Sultan’s Run

A Jasper teen escaped serious injury when is SUV rolled onto its side near Sultan’s Run Golf Club Saturday night.

DCSD says 16-year old William Sternburg was leaving the golf course when the accident happened shortly before 9pm.

Sternberg told deputies he was distracted as he turned west onto Meridian Road and his vehicle went off the side of the road.

DCSD says the road’s shoulder does have a small drop off and when he overcorrected bringing the SUV back onto Meridian Road, the vehicle rolled over onto its driver’s side.

DCSD says SUV slid about 200 feet down the roadway on its side, spinning 180 degrees before coming to rest off the north side of the roadway facing south.

DCSD says Sternberg was able to get out of the SUV on his own before deputies arrived.

He was treated at the scene for an injury to his left hand before being taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

DCSD says the SUV was a total loss.
