Reds Hosting Reunion; Current Reds Accept World Series Invite

Jasper (Local Sources) – The Jasper Reds are hosting their 25th Annual Reunion today at the Jasper Jaycees Clubhouse.

The doors open at 11 a.m. to the public.

Reds spokesman Tom Alles says anyone who is a baseball fan will enjoy this event that will have many interesting items on display including old pictures, uniforms, equipment, newspaper and films from the 1940s and 1950s.  Refreshments will be served.

Meawhile, the 2017 edition of the Reds have has accepted one of the few at-large bids to compete in the upcoming 83rd National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, Kanas.

This will be the sixth appearance at the World Series for the Reds, who will open pool play July 22 or 23.

Alles says one of the other teams that has accepted a World Series Invite is the Kansas Stars.  The Stars’ roster includes former MLB stars Chipper Jones, Roy Halladay, Roy Oswalt and Jake Peavy.
