Betty Mae Caldemeyer, 86, Stendal

Betty CaldemeyerBetty Mae Caldemeyer, 86, of Stendal, died Wednesday (July 12) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born in Flat Rock, Illinois, September 11, 1930, to James and Lorene (Preston) Blount. She married Norman F. Caldemeyer August 30, 1952, in Stendal. He died August 14, 2015.

Betty was a homemaker, a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal, and enjoyed quilting and crocheting.

She is survived by five daughters, Brenda Houchin and husband Jerry, Sharon Roettger and husband Jim, and Rita Williams and husband Mark, all of Stendal, Karen Dixon and husband Rodney, Winslow, and Kutina Kline and husband Albert, Holland; three sons, Gary Caldemeyer and wife Karen and William Caldemeyer and wife Jolene, all of Stendal, and Larry Caldemeyer and wife Denise, Lynnville; two sisters, Jean Eckert, Birdseye, and Carolyn Parks, Boonville; two brothers, Jerry Blount, Velpen, and Donald Blount, Stendal; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, James Blount Jr., and one sister, JoAnn Goodrum.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with burial following in St. Paul Cemetery, west of Stendal. Pastor Ed Wicks will officiate at the services.
