Shirley Ann Pfaff, 80, Huntingburg

Shirley PfaffShirley Ann Pfaff, 80, of Huntingburg, died Monday (July 10) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Huntingburg September 9, 1936, to Odie and Edith E. (Hawkins) Underwood. She married Vincent Pfaff April 14, 1956, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He died February 6, 1999.

Shirley was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress at Best Chairs. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg and enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, and outings to the casino.

She is survived by two sons, Terry Pfaff and wife Rosanna, Ferdinand, and Jeff Pfaff and wife Linda, Huntingburg; two daughters, Karen Qualters and husband Greg, Eckerty, and Anita Besaw and husband Kent, Jasper; two sisters, Myrna Vance, Iowa, and Joan Pritt, Velpen; seven grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by five brothers, Gene, Garrett, and Donald Underwood and two brothers who died in infancy, four sisters, Delores Hegge, Mildred Schaeffer, Pence Layton, and Marjorie Radtke, and one great-granddaughter.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish rosary prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared with the family at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Ryan Hilderbrand.
