Kay Ann Hartke, 63, Stendal

Kay Ann Hartke Kay Ann Hartke, 63, of Stendal, died Monday (July 10) at the Deaconess V.N.A. Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville. She was born in Huntingburg May 7, 1954, to Alva and Joan (Balsmeyer) Leistner. She married Dordon “Duke” Hartke January 22, 1977, at Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg. He died January 9, 2007.

Kay worked as a licensed practical nurse. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Stendal, was active in the Pike County 4-H Club and the Lockhart Township Community Center; and enjoyed helping family and friends.

She is survived by one daughter, Michelle Conway and husband Eric, Stendal; one son, Brandon Hartke, Stendal; her mother, Joan Leistner, Holland; her mother-in-law, Mary Louise Hartke, Stendal; three brothers, Richard Leistner and wife Charlene, Huntingburg, and Ronnie Leistner and wife Carol and Randy Leistner and wife Bobbie, all of Holland; three sisters, Karen Lubbehusen and husband Mark, Dale, Connie Overbey and husband Mike, Holland, and Susie Peter and husband Rich, Huntingburg; three grandchildren, Avarie, Carson, and Emory; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her father and husband she was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Stendal. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peters Church with burial following in the church cemetery.  Pastor Ed Wicks will officiate at the service.
