Wanted County Man In Custody

JonesMartin County, IN (NNDC) – A Dubois County man who has eluded local law enforcement for more than a week was arrested without incident Tuesday afternoon in Martin County.

Martin County Chief Deputy Josh Greene says 38-year old Christopher Jones (pictured), who lives in the 9900 block of North Hickory Grove Road near the Dubois/Martin County line, was taken into custody by Martin County authorities inside the Hoosier National Forest.

A K9 belonging to the Martin County Sheriff’s Department assisted deputies in locating Jones near Brooks Bridge Road just south of the unincorporated town of Hindostan Falls about four miles north of Jones’ home in Dubois County.

Back on June 28th, a multi-agency team of officers went to Jones’ home to serve him with a Dubois Circuit Court warrant charging him with a Level 4 felony count of Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent felon.

A spokesman for the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says Jones fled into the woods as officers approached his home.

DCSD officers also brought in a K9 to assist, but his track was lost about a mile into the heavily wooded area.

Jones is currently being held at the Dubois County Security Center in Jasper.
