4-H Queen and Teen Miss Will Be Crowned This Sunday

Jasper (Local Sources) – 2017 Dubois County 4-H Queen and Teen Miss Contest is this Sunday.

The contests will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday (July 9th) in the Jasper High School gym in Jasper.

Admission for the contest is $5.  Admission is free for 4-H members and club leaders with membership cards.

There will also be a mini 4-H pageant on Sunday for boys and girls ages five to 10.

The contests are the official kickoff to this year’s Dubois 4-H Fair will be held July 17 through 22.

There are nine girls competing for the title of 2017 Miss 4-H Queen; four girls are competing in the Teen Miss Contest.

Joscelyn Blanchard

Joscelyn Blanchard is the daughter of Sheila Blanchard of Huntingburg.  She will be a senior at Southridge High School this fall.  After graduation, she plans to attend Salon Professional Academy to study Cosmetology.  Joscelyn is sponsored by The Doodlebug. 

Sara Carpenter

Sara Carpenter is a 2017 graduate of Jasper High School.  Her parents are Kurt and Cindy Carpenter of Jasper. Sara plans to attend Butler University to study Communication Sciences and Disorders in the hopes of becoming a speech pathologist.  She is sponsored by the Lucky Shamrocks 4-H Club.

Alyssa Collignon

Alyssa Collignon is the daughter of Bret and Debbie Collignon of  Jasper. She is a 2017 graduate of Jasper High School. Alyssa plans to attend the University of Southern Indiana to study nursing specializing in Obstetrics.  Her sponsor is Keusch Glass, Inc.

Claudia Gasser will be a sophomore at Western Kentucky University in the fall. She is majoring in Elementary Education. Claudias parents are Matthew and Misty Gasser of Huntingburg.  She is being sponsored by RG Mechanical.

Taylor Hopf is the daughter of Keith and Susan Hopf of Kyana. She is sponsored by Shadyridge Farms.  Taylor is entering her junior year at Purdue University where she is majoring in Pharmacology hoping to become a pharmacist.  

Lauren Lubbehusen

Lauren Lubbehusen will be a senior at Forest Park HS this fall. Her parents are Ron and Dana Lubbehusen of Huntingburg.  After graduation, Lauren would like to attend either Purdue or Western Kentucky studying Agronomy or Nursing.  Her sponsors are Cathy Fleck and Dana Lubbehusen.

Jennifer Merkley is the daughter of George and Susan Merkley of St. Anthony. She is sponsored by Surplus Division.  Jennifer will be a sophomore at Indiana University East majoring in Psychology in the hopes of becoming an attorney.

Kennedy Neukam will be a sophomore at Western Kentucky University this fall. She is majoring in Chemistry hoping to become an optometrist. Kennedys parents are Keanyn and Julie Neukam of Dubois. Her sponsor is Gunderson Eyecare.

Sarah Pund

Sarah Pund is the daughter of Kenny and Chris Pund of Ferdinand.  She is a 2017 graduate of Forest Park High School. Sarah plans to attend Indiana State University to study Nursing. She is sponsored by Pund Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, Inc. and Ferdinand Family Medicine.

The four Teen Miss Contestants…

Jaclyn Haug will be a sophomore at Forest Park High School this fall.  She is the daughter of Albert and Tammy Haug of Ferdinand.  Jaclyn plans to attend college hoping to enter the medical field.  Her sponsor is the Crusaders 4-H Club.

Presley Neukam is the daughter of Keanyn and Julie Neukam of Dubois.  She will be a sophomore at Northeast Dubois High School this fall.  Presley plans to attend college and study elementary education.  She is sponsored by Triple Creek Farms.

Riley Prechtel is sponsored by the Talent Seekers 4-H Club and SP Repair Service, LLC.  She is the daughter of Scott and Pam Prechtel of Huntingburg.  Riley will be a junior at Forest Park High School this fall.  After graduation, her plans are to attend college to study nursing or physical therapy.

Leah Schnell is the daughter of Scott and Juli Schnell of Jasper.  She will be a junior at Jasper High School this fall. Her plans after graduation are to attend the University of Evansville to study physical therapy. Leah is sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police Wood Capital Lodge
