Helen B. Grewe, 92, Huntingburg

Helen GreweHelen B. Grewe, 92, of Huntingburg, died Thursday (June 29) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Huntingburg January 17, 1925, to Albert and Hulda (Feldmeyer) Brunsman. He married Richard Leo “Dick” Grewe October 11, 1947, at Salem Church in Huntingburg. He died November 23, 2003.

Helen worked as a bank teller for First National Bank in Huntingburg. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ where she sang in the choir for 76 years, the Huntingburg Music Club since 1948, VFW Post No. 2366 Auxiliary, the Celebration Singers, and the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and volunteered at Shared Abundance.

She is survived by one daughter, Pam Grewe, Evansville; one cousin, Norma Jean Trent; special friends Phyllis Feldmeyer and Sue Meyer; Godson Matt Julian; nieces Missy Tarantino, Elizabeth Fortuna, Elizabeth Alberding, and Barbara Hopkins Swavley; and nephews James A. Hopkins and John R. Walter.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Grewe Hamilton, who died in 1988.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Salem Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Salem Church, the Huntingburg Music Club scholarship fund, or to the Erin Julian Memorial Endowment, c/o Dubois County Foundation.
