Dubois (NNDC) – A local man fled into heavy woods after police went to his home to arrest him Wednesday.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says a multi-agency team of officers went to the home of 38-year old Christopher Jones in the 9900 block of North Hickory Grove Road northeast of Dubois with an arrest warrant but Jones eluded officers as they arrived on scene and fled into a heavily wooded area.

Jones is wanted on a Dubois County Circuit Court warrant for a Level 4 felony charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon.

DCSD says Jones 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. He also has numerous tattoos on his arms.

DCSD says a K9 was used in the search for Jones after he fled Wednesday, but lost track of Wood about a mile into the woods.

Anyone with information about Jones is asked to contact the Dubois County Sheriffs Department at 812-482-3522.  All calls can and will be kept confidential.

DCSD says an additional charge of Resisting Law Enforcement against Jones is now pending.
