The four vehicle chain reaction accident just north of the I64 interchange remains under investigation.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says this vehicle, driven by 47-year old Pamela Waggoner of Oakland City failed to see three other southbound vehicles that had stopped or were slowing for a road construction worker flagging cars to stop.

A witness at the scene tells NewsNow Dubois County Waggoner’s vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and did not slow prior to impact.

Waggoner was lifeflighted from the scene to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Evansville with what police say was a serious leg injury.

The driver of the car Waggoner’s truck collided into was 40-year old Patricia Digman of Chrisney. She was transported to Memorial Hopsital in Jasper with a head injury.

The other two drivers were not hurt and neither were two passengers in those vehicles.

One of the passengers was a one-year old child.
