Walter E. “Junior” Weisman, 72, Haysville

Junior WeismanWalter E. “Junior” Weisman, 72, of Haysville, died Sunday (June 25) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg January 8, 1945, to Walter J. and Olive (Woodall) Weisman. He married Jeanne Stone February 29, 1972, in New Harmony.

Junior retired from GTE Telephone Company in Jasper as a telephone lineman and was a lifelong farmer in the Haysville area. After retirement he drove a semi-trailer for Jasper Leasing and worked delivery for the Sears store in Jasper. He was a member of the Haysville Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years and served as an EMT for Memorial Hospital for eight years. He was a 1963 graduate of Dubois High School, a member of Jasper Outdoor Recreation, and served on the Dubois Water Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to the French Lick Casino.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Weisman; one daughter, Carrie Vonderheide and husband Eric, Haysville; one son, Daniel Weisman and wife Lisa, Otwell; five grandchildrfen, Jasmine, Tyler, Darsey, and Anderson Vonderheide and Aubrey Weisman.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Herbert Weisman.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at Funeral Services 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with burial following in McClure Cemetery in Algiers.
