Margaret Ann Leistner, 82, Dubois

Margaret Ann LeistnerMargaret Ann Leistner, 82, of Dubois, died Sunday (June 25) at Brookside Village in Jasper. She was born in Jasper February 2, 1935, to Oscar and Frieda (Baer) Sendelweck. She married Melvin W. Leistner April 24, 1956, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville. He died November 12, 2016.

Margaret worked as a bookkeeper for over 35 years for Melvin Leistner Trucking, Roger Knies Trucking, and Tri-State Live Haul. She was also an Avon representative for over 40 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Dubois, where she served as a treasurer for the church council. She was on the Dubois Centennial Committee and the Dubois County Contractual Library Board.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Lechner and husband Tim and Gail Leistner, all of Jasper; one son, Keith Leistner and wife, Chrisy, Whiteland; four grandchildren, Eric Lechner and fiancé Nathalie Buse, and Kaitlyn, Jacob, and Joseph Leistner; one great-granddaughter, Kylie Fleck; three sisters, Marie Freyberger and Ruth Weisheit, both of Ireland, and Linda Dudine and husband Don, Magnet; one brother, Delbert Sendelweck and wife Patricia, Portersville; and sister-in-law Marie Leistner, Evansville.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers-in- law, Gerald Leistner, Rich Freyberger, and Kap Weisheit.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s UCC. Online condolences may be made at Funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery. Pastor John Sterrett will officiate.
