Dane G. Dougan, 90, Huntingburg

Dane DouganDane G. Dougan, 90, of Huntingburg, died Tuesday (June 20) at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. He was born in Selvin March 16, 1927, to Glenn and Mary (Windels) Dougan. He married Evelyn Hemmer August 26, 1950. She died November 11, 2014.

Dane was a graduate of Dale High School. He was a highway engineer for\ the Indiana Department of Transportation and a farmer. He was a member of Holland United Methodist Church, the Dubois County 4-H Council and Extension Board during the development of the Dubois County 4-H Fairgrounds, a 4-H leader for 40 years, and was the Holland Church Softball League founding president. He loved breeding and showing animals, especially Angus cattle, Katahdin sheep, boer goats, chickens, and pigeons. He showed pigeons at the Kentucky State Fair for 46 years.

He is survived by two sons, Gary Doug and wife Jan, Huntingburg, and Bruce Dougan, Fontana, Caifornia; four grandchildren, Alison Walton and husband Justin, Indianapolis, Christine Carter and husband Korey, Washington, D.C., Nathan Dougan, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Lindsay Dougan, Fontana, California; and two great-grandsons, James and Evan.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a special friend, Ruth Lehmkuhler, who died April 11, 2014.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holland United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be shared at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. Keith Chanley and Rev. Jack Pollock will officiate the service.
