Wilma I. Schnarr, 83, Jasper

Wilma SchnarrWilma I. Schnarr, 83, of Jasper, died Friday (June 16) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born in Portersville August 23, 1933, to George and Nora (Hoffman) Wening. She married Daniel W. Schnarr October 20, 1955, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville. He died October 29, 2011.

Wilma was a lifelong farmer and homemaker. She was a member of the original Wening Band, a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township and the church choir, was active in the Dubois County Food Bank, and enjoyed sewing and crafting.

She is survived by one daughter, Marie Patton and husband Randall, Jasper; one son, Dale Schnarr and wife Teri, Dayton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Sara Olinger and husband Philip, Beth Grammer and husband Logan, Jamie Lee and Kwesi, and Erik Schnarr; one great granddaughter, Catherine Olinger; and one sister, Clara Eichmiller, Haysville.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert A. Wening, and one sister, Cleda Wening.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Church. Funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The Rev. Catherine Burnette will officiate.
