Two Injured In Early Morning Accident

Ireland (NNDC) – The drivers of the two cars involved in an accident west of Ireland early Wednesday morning were injured in the mishap.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says both drivers, 25-year old Jennifer Fisher of Jasper and 34-year old Kelly Wiscaver were both transported to Memorial Hospital in Jasper with minor injuries.

DCSD says at about 8:15am, Fisher’s car was traveling west in Indiana 56 about two miles west of Ireland when her car went left of center and swerved causing her vehicle to cross the highway’s centerline and into the path of Wiscaver’s car that was traveling east. Fisher’s car struck Wiscaver’s vehicle in the east lane causing Wiscaver’s car to come to a rest.

DCSD says Fisher’s car continued and slid across the road on the north side and into a yard.

Witnesses told DCSD deputies it appeared that there was a problem with Fisher’s left rear tire which caused the car to swerve out of control before the crash. DCSD says Fisher’s rear left tire was found flat on the north side of the highway about 25 yards from the road in a garden.

DCSD says both cars were determined to be total losses with airbag deployment.
