James W. Weigel, 89, Huntingburg

James WeigelJames W. Weigel, 89, of Huntingburg, died Saturday (June 10) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born in Boone Township July 11, 1927, to Jacob and Edna (Huebner) Weigel. He married Colleen Frick February 16, 1957, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township.

James was a truck driver for over 35 years for Jasper-Chicago Clairmont Transfer. He owned and operated Country Corner Antiques, and was a member of Salem UCC in Huntingburg, the Huntingburg Kiwanis, and VFW Post No. 2366. He was a Hadi Shriner for Masonic Lodge No. 520 A&FM.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen Weigel; two sons, Rodney Weigel and wife Doris, Huntingburg, and Kent Weigel and wife Suzanne, Newburgh; daughter-in law Jeanette Weigel Theising and husband Mark, Schnellville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Bill Weigel, one brother, Edward Weigel, and one sister, Saffer.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. The Huntingburg Masonic Lodge will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Shriner’s Hospital in St. Louis or to the Salem Choir & Organ Fund. Pastor Mark West will officiate the services. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post No. 2366 memorial detail.
