Washington, IN (Local Sources) – The Washington Times-Herald is reporting Indiana District 63 Representative Mike Braun is considering a run for the U. S. Senate.

In the published report, Braun, a Republican from Jasper, is considering challenging Democratic incumbent Joe Donnelly in the 2018 mid-term election.

Braun tells the Times-Herald he feels the timing may be right for making a run for federal office.

He says, “If I am ever going to run for the United States Senate now is the time. It could be a long time before there is a seat open again without an incumbent Republican.

He goes on to say, “My children are grown and have taken on a lot of the business (Jasper-based Meyer Distributing and Meyer Logistics), and my business is in good shape.”

Braun says he expects to make his decision as to whether or not he will challenge Donnelly by August 1st, according to the Times-Herald.
