Initial Gutierrez Autopsy Results Inconclusive

Jasper (NNDC) – Initial autopsy results are inconclusive as to cause of death of an Evansville man who was found not breathing and unresponsive at the Dubois County Security Center just hours after he was arrested following a standoff with police.

33-year-old Armando Gutierrez of Evansville was arrested Thursday  night after a six-hour standoff at a near southside Jasper home.

Dubois County Coroner Bob Veatch says his investigation into the cause of Gutierrez’s death is ongoing as he is still awaiting toxicology and microscopic urinalysis test results.

After being medically cleared at Memorial Hospital a short time after he was arrested at about 10:45 Thursday night.  He was booked into DCSC at about 2:00am Friday.

DCSD says a deputy at the security center administered CPR before emergency first responders arrived at the jail shortly before 6:00am Friday.

DCSD says this is still an open investigation. The sheriff’s department the Dubois County coroner’s office are awaiting an autopsy and toxicology results.
