Jasper’s 3200 Relay Team Scores At State Finals

Bloomington (Local Sources) – The Jasper High School Track and Field team scored its first podium finish in the IHSAA State Finals in more than 15 years Friday night when the Wildcats’ 4×800 relay team finished 7th.

The time of 7:49.93 for the relay quartet of Cale Kilian, Tristan Backer, Will Smith and Corbin Kaiser set a new JHS record and was about four seconds better than the foursome’s best time this season.

Kilian and Kaiser are seniors. Kilian is the lead-off runner for the team; Kaiser runs the ‘anchor leg.’

The state finals are held at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex at Indiana University in Bloomington. The boys state finals were held last night; the girls finals are today.

Southridge is the only local school represented in today’s finals.¬† The Lady Raiders 4×100 relay team of sophomore¬† Kenzie Neukam and freshmen¬†Sidney Bartelt, Alexis Brady and Grace Meece will run in the first of four timed finals at 6:45 PM.

Juniors Tori Tretter (discus) and Karli Meyer (shot put) are also completing today at the state finals.
