Charles H. “Botts” Bohnert, 90, Jasper

Bottles BohnertCharles H. “Botts” Bohnert, 90, of Jasper, died Tuesday (May 30) at Brookside Village in Jasper. He was born in Jasper September 27, 1926, to Hilbert and Eva (Breitweiser) Bohnert. He married D. Helen Leinenbach November 27, 1947, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. She died March 26, 2014.

Botts retired from TransCanada Natural Gas Company in Celestine and then worked part time in maintenance for Old National Bank. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 147, Holy Family Catholic Church, and the Jasper Knights of Columbus. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed spending time with nieces and nephews.

He is survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Moran and Mary Ann Alles. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, the Dubois County Humane Society, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Church with burial following in Enlow City Cemetery. American Legion Post No. 147 will conduct military graveside rites.
