Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest For Drug Charges

snipesJasper (NNDC) – A Jasper man was arrested late Tuesday night on drug charges after a traffic stop on the city’s near northside.

Jasper police arrested 40-year old Steven Snipes (pictured) after police pulled over his vehicle shortly before 11:00pm in the 1900 block of Newton Street for what police describe was an improper headlight.

During the traffic stop, the JPD officer at the scene requested the assistance of the Jasper Police Department’s K-9 Ares.  JPD says Ares did detect the presence of narcotics in Snipes’ vehicle.

Police say methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia were found in the vehicle.

Snipes was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine (Class 6 Felony) and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia (both Class A misdemeanors).
