County To “Surface Seal” Roadways In Celestine; St. Marks Next Week

road sealCelestine (Local Sources) – Some county roads are set to get a what officials say is a “rejuvenating surface seal” next week.

Dubois County Highway Department superintendent Steve Berg says the roads scheduled to get the surface seal are in the Celestine and St. Marks areas.

Berg is asking residents living in these areas to not park their vehicles on the roads as that will hinder county highway crews’ ability to complete the work.

Berg says vehicles parked on the targeted roads will be towed at the owner’s expense.

The roads are expected to be open to local traffic during most of the work. However, there will be short periods of time when direct access to a driveway will not be possible.

The rejuvenating surface seal will involve fresh oil being distributed on the roadway. The county is asking motorists to stay off the seal until a department representative states it is properly cured and is ready for traffic.

Berg says motorists who must cross a recently sealed section of road is asked to drive extremely slow as to not splash oil on their vehicle.   He says the county highway department said it will not be responsible for removing sealer from vehicles.

Weather permitting, scheduled surface sealing will take place…
