Dubois (NNDC) – Jeeps’ starting pitcher Peyton Hurt spotted Wood Memorial a run in the top of the first inning, but after that he and relief hurler Case Eisenhut kept the Trojans at bay as the Jeeps with the Class 1A Sectional (#64) Monday night 5-1.  This is the second consecutive sectional crown for the Jeeps (19-6) who head to Loogootee Saturday for the regional round of the 2017 IHSAA tournament where they will play Trinity Lutheran in the second semifinal game.  Host Loogootee and Lanesville will play in the first semifinal at 11am.

Meanwhile, at Jasper, Connor O’Brien pitches five shutout innings as Jasper wins its 3rd Class 3A Sectional in a row with a 5-0 win over Princeton.  Jasper has now won a state-best 38 baseball sectionals.

Jasper, the #2 team in Class 3A going into the tournament, will play Silver Creek at 11a this coming Saturday in the 3A Regional to be played at North Harrison.  Boonville and Lawrenceburg play the second semifinal.
