Jasper’s Krueger Named To All-Big Ten Freshman Team

Bloomington (NNDC) – Indiana University freshman Cal Krueger was named the 2017 All-Big Ten Freshman Team.

The Jasper native (JHS ’16) is one of three starting pitchers named to the honorary squad.  Krueger was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on May 15th as he led the Hoosiers to a 10-2 victory over Penn State on May 14.

Krueger (pictured) is 4-1 for the Hoosiers this past spring; 2-0 as a starter (3 starts).

His 2.248 ERA is fifth best in the Big Ten.  His ERA as a starter was 1.62. His non-decision start was a 4-3 IU win over Ball State April 25th in Indianapolis.

Krueger’s 54.1 innings pitched is fifth most for the Indiana staff and he’s 12th in the Big Ten in limiting opposing batters to a .244 average.

Indiana is 32212 after losing their opener in the Big Ten Conference post-season tournament to Minnesota 5-4 Wednesday.

The Hoosiers are projected to make the NCAA Regionals which begin June 2nd.
