William M. “Bill” Blume, 91, Celestine

William BlumeWilliam M. “Bill” Blume, 91, of Celestine, died Friday (May 19) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Birdseye April 23, 1926, to William C. and Elizabeth (Miller) Blume.

Bill worked at Jerry Seidl Sawmill and for Forest Products for several years. He was a United States Army veteran, a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Celestine Catholic Church, and American Legion Post No. 147, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by one sister, Helen Curl, Celestine; one brother, Maurice Blume and wife Brenda, Kyana; sister-in-law Lucille Blume, Jasper; five nieces; and 11 nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann and Hildagarde Blume, who died in infancy, two brothers, Leo L. and Othmar Blume, one nephew, Matthew Blume, who died in infancy, and two brothers-in-law, Sammy Ingle and Lester Curl.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Celestine Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Isidore Parish, the Alzheimer’s Association, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Celestine Church with burial following in the church cemetery. American Legion Post No. 147 will conduct military graveside rites.
