Darrell Gene RoesnerDarrell Gene Roesner, 78, of Holland, died Friday (May 12) at his home. He was born in Holland June 5, 1938, to Elmer and Juanita (Bush) Roesner. He married Martha Ann Shawhan December 1, 1957, at the Lutheran Parsonage in Holland. She died March 19, 2017,

Darrell worked as a self-employed milk hauler and as a school bus driver for the Southwest Dubois County School Corporation for 30 years. He was a Holland water utility… superintendent and Holland town board president, a foreign exchange student host, and a member of St. James Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and waterskiing, gardening, and his pets.

He is survived by two daughters, Penny Wilhite and husband Randy, Evansville, and Anita Woebkenberg and husband Gordon, Ferdinand; one brother, James Roesner and wife Donna, Holland; sister-in-law Betty Wibbeler, Holland; four grandchildren, Logan Begle and wife Josie, Leitha Majewicz and husband Mark, and Lora and Taylor “T.J.” Woebkenberg; four great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Doug Begle, and one brother, William Roesner.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland. Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to St. James Church. Online condolences may be shared online at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church with burial following at a later date. Pastor David Darling will officiate at the service.
