Flood Damage Reporting Deadline Fast-Approaching

Jasper (Local Sources) – The deadline to report water damage to local homes from the recent flooding to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security is fast approaching.

Tammy Humbert with the Dubois County Emergency Management Agency is asking those who have not reported flood damage to please do so by going by going online to https://oas.dhs.in.gov/hs/damage/ia-public.do?method=active&incidentId=IA20170509102318

Humbert says it is extremely important for local residents to report any and all flood damage to homes, as the local EMA office is assisting state officials in assessing what she describes as the magnitude of flood damage done in Dubois County.

She says currently the number of reports of damage reported to date will not meet state requirements for Dubois County to be considered for state and federal assistance to help pay for flood damage to local homes.

Humbert says the state is wanting information for flood damage that resulted in 18” of water or more on the first floor of a home, or 18” of water or more in a basement with essential living quarters such as a bedroom, kitchen or a living room.

Basement wall ended up collapsing due to sewer backup and flood. Lost both vehicles on the flood, total loss. Garage also flooded. Damaqge to roof, siding, front steps. Worst flood ever
