Leo G. Danzer, 82, Dubois

Leo DanzerLeo G. Danzer, 82, of Dubois, died Wednesday (May 10) at his home. He was born in Willey, Iowa, May 22, 1934, to Frank and Helen (Balk) Danzer. He married Mary Eileen Rowenkamp August 8, 1964, at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois. She died October 17, 2003.

Leo was a farmer in Iowa and later worked for the Knights of Columbus in Jasper and
for the Northeast Dubois School Corporation. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and working on bicycles. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Parish – St. Raphael Campus in Dubois, and a member of its choir. He was a 4th Degree Knight with the Jasper Knights of Columbus, and was in the Silver Age club and the Dubois Ruritan club.

He is survived by one daughter, Melody Powell and husband Jim, Winslow; two sons, Tony Danzer and Andrew Danzer and wife Angie, all of Jasper; four grandchildren, Jimmy and Randy Powell and Blake and Kylene Danzer; one sister, Colette Piccolo and
husband Joe, Gretna, Nebraska; one brother, Eugene Danzer, Carroll, Iowa; and nieces
and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one daughter, Anna Marie Danzer, and one granddaughter, Kendra Amber Danzer.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Isidore Parish or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Raphael’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
