William A. “Whitey” Nordhoff, 75, Jasper

WhiteyWilliam A. “Whitey” Nordhoff, 75, of Jasper, died Saturday (May 6) at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Evansville July 17, 1941, to Clemence A. and Mary June (Cave) Nordhoff. He married Carmen Joan Hendrixson November 16, 1961, in Our Lady of Springs Catholic Church in French Lick.

Whitey was a 1959 graduate of Loogootee St. John’s High School. He worked as a distribution engineer for the City of Jasper for 45 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and the Jasper Lions Club, for whom he was past president and instrumental in the development of the Lions Club Riverside Park. He enjoyed drawing, and traveling, and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen Joan Nordhoff; two sons, Larry Nordhoff and wife Jenny and Rob Nordhoff and wife Jill, all of Jasper; one daughter, Jenny Sara Lindeman and husband, David, Jasper; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one sister, Patty Henke and husband Allen, Jasper; and one brother, Tom Nordhoff, and wife Deb, Jasper.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. St. Joseph Parish will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with burial following in Enlow Cemetery.
