Tip Helps JPD Find Wanted Man Lying On His Vehicle’s Floorboard

Jasper (NNDC) – A tip from the public helped police locate a man who was wanted for failing to return to the Dubois County Community Corrections Center.

The Jasper Police Department says at 8:45 Monday evening, an anonymous caller said 36-year old Josh Leckie of English could be found in an apartment in the 500 block of Main Street.

JPD says officers did not find Leckie inside the apartment, but a subsequent search of his vehicle in the apartment’s parking lot found him lying on the vehicle’s floorboard.

JPD says Leckie was wanted for failing to return to DCCC last month.

A warrant for his arrest was issued March 31st charging him with a Level 6 felony count of failing to return to lawful detention.

Police say Leckie was also wanted for failing to appear in court for proceedings related to Level 5 felony counts of methamphetamine possession and illegal possession of a hypodermic needle filed last August.
