Alexa “Lexi” Layne Mattingly, 16, Holland

Alexa MattinglyAlexa “Lexi” Layne Mattingly, 16, of Holland, died Thursday (April 20) at Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville. She was born in Jasper May 8, 2000, to Gene and Traci (Roberts) Mattingly.

Lexi was a sophomore at Southridge High School, a member of the Southridge basketball and tennis teams, student council, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She was also a member of the Holland United Methodist Church, U.M.Y.F., and 4-H Wranglers.

Lexi is survived by her parents, Gene and Traci Mattingly, Holland; one brother, Payton Scott Mattingly; one sister, Ella Grace Mattingly; grandparents, Cheryle and John Daunhauer and Stan and Judy Roberts, all of Holland, and Mrs. Frances Mattingly, Vancleave, Mississippi; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather Frederick Mattingly.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg and from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Holland United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions can be made to The Lexi Mattingly Memorial Fund, c/o German American Bank. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday at Holland United Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Pastor Keith Chanley will officiate at the service.
