Ambrose H. Schwenk, 72, of Jasper, died Wednesday (April 19) at his home. He was born in Jasper March 5, 1945, to Jerome and Magdalen (Reker) Schwenk. He married Jane Block April 27, 1968, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
Ambrose was an Indiana Army National Guard veteran and a member of American
Legion Post 147 in Jasper. He was a 1963 graduate of Ireland High School and a member of St. Joseph Church. He was an avid fan of Indiana University sports, the Cincinnati Reds, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Indiana Pacers. He loved gardening, golf, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Schwenk; one son, Brian Schwenk, Jasper; two
sisters, Pat Sternberg, Jasper, and Carol Walters and husband Joe, Indianapolis; two brothers, Brother Flavian Schwenk, OSB, St. Meinrad, and Fred Schwenk and wife Joyce, Washington.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine “Katie” Schwenk.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, the Lange-Fuhs

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church with entombment following in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. American Legion Post 147 will conduct military graveside rites.
