James F. Lueken, 83, of Ferdinand, died Monday (April 17) at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. He was born in Ferdinand August 30, 1933, to Joseph F. & Olivia P. (Nord) Lueken. He married Bernadette “Daisy” Sitzman May 6, 1954, in the St. Meinrad Archabbey Church. She died November 20, 2016.
James was a co-owner of the Lueken Lumber Company and owner of Custom Decks and Specialty. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand and its St. Joseph Sodality. He was a former member of the church finance Committee, a member of the Indiana National Guard, Jasper No.1949, Ferdinand American Legion Post 124, and the Ferdinand Jaycees. He was a past president of Ferdinand Investment Corporation, and the Ferdinand Community Center.
He is survived by one son, Jonathan Lueken, Ferdinand; one daughter, Kristine Braunecker and husband Brian, Ferdinand; three grandsons. Benjamin and Noah Braunecker and Zachary Lueken; two sisters, Barbara Schaefer and husband Jim, Wadesville, and Mary Jo Tretter and husband Dennis, Fort Wayne; two sisters-in-law, Nita Lueken, Ferdinand, and Loraine Lueken, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ferdinand Church.
