Ferdinand Man Airlifted After Crashing Pickup Into House

Ferdinand (NNDC) – A Ferdinand man was injured when his pickup truck ran into the side of a home along Main Street (Indiana 162) early Tuesday morning.

Ferdinand police say shortly after Midnight Tuesday, 36-year old Shaun Gentry apparently fell asleep before his pickup left the east side of the highway at 18th Street, striking a sign several signs and then crashing into a home.

Police said Gentry was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville after being taken to Memorial Hospital by ambulance with what police describe as “substantial trauma.”

Police say the home’s foundation was damaged.  The truck struck a gas meter which did cause a gas leak.

The crash closed Main Street and for about two hours.

Ferdinand police say the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
