Donald Eugene Leibering, 74, of Huntingburg, died Wednesday (April 12) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg November 13, 1942, to Walter Eugene and Alberta Helen (Meyer) Leibering. He married Glenda Jay Frick July 25, 1964, at Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg.
Don worked for the City of Huntingburg for 42 years as a lineman with the electric department. He was an avid fisherman, a veteran of the U.S. army, and a member of Huntingburg VFW Post No. 2366 and Jasper American Legion Post No. 147.
He is survived by one son, Timothy Leibering, Jasper; his mother, Alberta Helen Leibering, Huntingburg; four brothers, Steve Leibering, Ferdinand, and Gary, Doug, and Richard Leibering, all of Huntingburg; five grandchildren, Justin and Nathan Leibering, Erica Rainey, Brooklyn Harris, and Luke Durcholz; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Leibering, and one daughter, Stacy Lynn Durcholz.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday and from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lange-FuhsCancer Center.
