Simmers Inducted Into ISSA Hall Of Fame (VIDEO)

BOB 2Greenwood (NNDC) – Forner WITZ & WBDC sports play-by-play announcer Bob Simmers was inducted Sunday into the Indiana Sportswriters & Sportscasters Hall of Fame.

Simmers, who spent more than 20 years with WITZ as a sports announcer and chief engineer, passed away in 2006 at the age of 68.

Jerry Birge, who was at the Herald in Jasper during much of Simmers’ time in Jasper, and was best friends with Simmers, introduced Bob’s oldest son Alex, who accepted his father’s Hall of Fame award for the Simmers’ family on behalf of his dad (pictured).
